The film Dancing at the Blue Iguana takes place over the course of seven days and seven nights. It tells the story of a dance club that is fraying at the edges; a club located in the pit of the San Fernando Valley and peopled by characters whose lives reflect the tattered heart of the club itself. DIRECTOR'S NOTES :
I have long wanted to make an improvised film. Although I use a lot of improvisation in my films the urge to go further comes from two things: firstly that I have been struck the number of actors that come to audition for films who have so much to give and so little room to give it, and secondly it has long been my belief that the process of writing for the movies is very similar to the process of creating a role.
